I can confirm that this was supported at the SCC / WBC Joint Committee last night. The route from here will be for a notice to be published and then after a statutory period, the limit will be changed, the signs changed and the new limit enforceable.

On Wednesday this week, the SCC / WBC Joint Committee will be held. This committee is a SCC committee that allows for WBC Councillors to input into SCC matters essentially. Generally it looks at highways and education issues but ultimately covers a great deal.
More importantly for Brookwood, on the agenda is an item to lower the speed limit to 40mph along Brookwood Lye Road. This map shows the exact length of road proposed.
There was fatal accident here a couple of years ago, and knowing the development that I hope will be coming along there soon, I fully support this.

Just before the most recent local election all WBC Councillors were invited to a session regarding a proposed rail link from Woking to Heathrow. I was one of the handful that attended and was enthusiastic about what I saw.
I think this would really benefit Woking economically and the residents by having a rail route that doesn’t require a bus or bouncing out of London.

The consultation into Heathrow expansion will kick off soon, and my personal view is that if Heathrow is to be expanded, then as a side project improving our access to Heathrow is essential.
